Grade 8 students embarked on a tour to Thanjavur to experience the rich culture and heritage of the ancient South Indian kingdoms. They explored handicrafts, architecture, and the history of the Chola dynasty, while expert guides offered clear insights into the scientific and philosophical foundations of South Indian traditions.
Students developed a deeper appreciation of Chola craftsmanship, its evolution over the centuries, and its influence on neighbouring kingdoms. Their visits to UNESCO World Heritage monuments offered profound insights into the architectural brilliance of our country.
The programme blended recreation and learning, from a treasure hunt at the Darasuram temple to a visit to the Thiruppurambiyam battlefield featuring a reenactment from Ponniyin Selvan. Guided tours of Gangaikondacholapuram and the Thanjavur Big Temple further enriched their understanding of architectural, philosophical, and theological concepts. The experience strengthened their cultural awareness while equipping them with valuable real-world skills.
